ACIEX

Developing capital-efficient, electric hybrid propulsion architecture for the next century of flight.

ACIEX Finalises Propulsion Baseline and Narrows Flight Test Bed Selection to Two Platforms

15 June 2026 — ACIEX, the deep-tech aerospace company developing a parallel hybrid-electric propulsion system for sub-regional aviation, has completed its preliminary feasibility phases and finalised the selection of its baseline gas turbine powerplant. Concurrently, the company has narrowed its Flight Test Bed (FTB) selection to two leading sub-regional airframe platforms.

This milestone represents the conclusion of a rigorous technical and market-fit assessment. The process ensured all foundational architectural choices align precisely with real-world operational economics, fleet distribution profiles, and physical engineering constraints. By anchoring development to this defined hardware configuration, the programme transitions systematically into detailed design and physical rig validation phases.

Both candidate FTB airframes are ubiquitous, high-performance platforms within the sub-regional sector. The aircraft ultimately selected will serve a dual purpose: acting as the physical vehicle for flight testing and functioning as the company’s primary commercial launch platform. This integrated approach significantly compresses the timeline to Type Certification and subsequent market deployment, enabling faster operational data collection while maintaining absolute regulatory rigour.

Crucially, optimising this immediate hardware configuration for upcoming physical rig validation does not constrain the long-term scope of the technology. The ACIEX power-management architecture and software control systems remain entirely powerplant-agnostic. This inherent modularity ensures that the company’s core intellectual property can be ported seamlessly to alternative legacy turbines as global market dynamics evolve.
